A traffic control inspection is the inspection of traffic control plans before the beginning of a work shift. It includes changes in traffic conditions, speed limits, barricades, PPE kits, safety measures and flagging. It is performed by the supervisor to ensure adherence to laws as well as the safety of workers.

Are there vertical panels available?
Are the vertical panels’ damage- free?

Do the devices have adequate ballasting?

Are there trained and certified flaggers available?
Are there warning signs in place before the flagger stations?
Do the flaggers have a designated escape route?

Have you provided high visibility vests to all flaggers?

Is an adequate clear zone available?
Do the workers and visitors have dedicated parking space?
Are all areas around equipment and machinery delineated?

Is there an induction plan for independent truck drivers before they enter the work site?
Is there a dedicated area for the storage of material?
Are internal traffic control signs in place?
Is the speed limit within the work zone clearly posted?
Do you have a clear open communication channel for changes in ITCP?
Is there sufficient lighting for night shifts?
Are bright coloured vests being used to ensure workers are visible at least 1000 feet from all directions?
Is there an open line of communication between workers on foot and equipment?
Do equipment operators enjoy open communication?
