Load checks
Has the operator performed rigging and hoisting techniques?
Is the Hoist rope free of twists?
Is the Load attached properly by means of slings or other approved devices?
Are all obstacles cleared?
Is Load well secured and properly balanced?
Before starting the hoist, did you notice if the hoist rope is twisted?
Is the hook swinging over the load?
Did you notice any sudden acceleration or deceleration of the moving load?
Are there any obstructions to the Load?
When employees are on the load or hook, did you notice any lowering/hoisting?
Did the operator test brakes everytime when in use?
Pre-operation checks
Is Crane registered and authorized to be used in operation?
Is operator in good condition and competent to work?
Are operating and emergency controls kept in place?
Is the operator aware of the location of disconnect switch?
Are the push button controls without warning signs?
Is the crane or in the runway area clear of people?
Is the working area clear of people where the load will be kept and picked up?
Is there an adequate area to keep the load?
